Chuvash National Museum, a book about the history of the Chuvash National Museum in 1921–2022
Abstract
For the 100th anniversary of the Chuvash National Museum, its staff prepared a fundamental scientific publication that covers not only its history, but also characterizes all of its collections, highlights the activities of eight museum institutions that are part of its structure, evaluates its current position and its role in the culture of Chuvashia. The book-album was created on a solid scientific basis. These are archival sources from the funds of the Chuvash National Museum, the State Archive of the Chuvash Republic, the State Archive of the Modern History of the Chuvash Republic, the Scientific Archive of the Chuvash State Institute of Humanities, periodicals, historical literature and unique visual sources. The structure of the book is built on a chronological-problematic principle and consists of 4 main sections: «Pages of History», «Museum Collections», «Museum and its branches», «The Chuvash National Museum in the XXI century». The book under review is the first edition covering all aspects of the museum’s activities throughout its existence. The publication uses unique documents and illustrations, which makes the book scientific, fundamental and novel.
