Abstract
Based on the principles of historicism and objective analysis, the article examines the problem of Chuvash Komsomol organizations’ participation in the development of rural schools in the process of implementing youth mass public initiatives “Komsomol for rural schools” and “Live in the village – know the equipment” and professional orientation of rural youth students on the basis of the resolution of the CPSU Central Committee and the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated March 20, 1974 “On Measures for Further Development of Agriculture in the Nonblack Soil Zone of the RSFSR”. This work was carried out in accordance with the requirements and demands in the development of agriculture in the nonblack soil zone and socio-cultural infrastructure in rural areas and the need for human resourcing in the agricultural sector of the region in the first place by holding the graduates of secondary and eight-year schools in the countryside, instilling in them a conscious desire and willingness to work as agricultural specialists. For the first time, materials of archival funds and mass media on the initial period of implementing the state program for intensification of the nonblack soil zone of the RSFSR (1974–1980) in the Chuvash Republic are introduced into scientific circulation. The article shows cooperation of Komsomol organizations with schools, state authorities of public education, collective farms and state agricultural enterprises. An important place in labor education and professional orientation of rural schoolchildren during this period is occupied by student production teams and brigades, which became widespread in rural areas of the Republic. Many of them achieved significant practical results and were rewarded for this, and their former members were selected as a life reference point for working in their native village. An important place in the cooperation between the Komsomol and the school was also taken by educating in students ecological culture, respect for the environment, primarily through the work of school forestries, participation in greening settlements and countering soil erosion. This historical experience is particularly relevant today due to the need to motivate rural youth to work in agricultural enterprises in competitive economy conditions that requires a modern orientation of the production process and introduction of innovations. For the successful solution of this problem, it is important to cooperate with schools, government agencies and the public, the analysis of some aspects of the historical experience of which is given in the article.
