Abstract
The review is devoted to the monograph of V. N. Klementyev, a scientific work of one of Chuvashia’s historians, currently working at the Chuvash State Institute of Humanities (ChSIH). The book itself is devoted to issues related to the advent and development of the Chuvash autonomy, namely, to transformation of the autonomous region into the ASSR in 1920-1925. As a result, the problems of the national movement in the territory of the Chuvash frontier-governorate, the problems of the Chuvash statehood formation, indigenisation, workforce policy, clarification of administrative borders, etc. were inevitably touched on. The object of the reviewer’s analysis was Klementiev’s monograph, its problematicity, content level, style of presentation, etc. Therefore, the subject of study includes completeness, objectivity, criticality of the facts and events analyzed in the work, their interpretation, argumentativeness, consistency of presentation, and features of the author’s style. The book, published in 2019, as well as its review are timed to the 100th anniversary of the Chuvash autonomy, which is celebrated in 2020.
