Abstract
Active globalization processes of our time entail the growth of international relations and, as a result, the multinational nature of society, therefore, the state has a top-priority target – strengthening international cooperation. In this regard, the problems of preserving historical values and tolerant attitudes in society are becoming more and more urgent. In addition, the issues of ethno-cultural adaptation are the basis for solving these problems.
The author examines the main theoretical aspects of ethno-cultural adaptation process, since in modern world the study of this phenomenon is impossible without knowledge and characteristics of these fundamentals.
Every year, a huge number of foreign citizens cross the border of our state for various purposes: political persecution, job search, education, etc. How they adapt to a new environment for them, how they organize their way of life, what traditions they preserve or acquire, all this is studied in the process of ethno-cultural adaptation. This process is not static, it is dynamic. The achievement of the goal of migrants’ arrival in a new and unfamiliar socio-cultural space depends on how quickly and successfully it passes.
The study focuses on the younger generation of migrants. Special attention is paid to this category of citizens, since they belong to the object of study, characterized by the presence of a certain set of problems due to their young age, character and social status.
In particular, the article presents field material collected by the author on some aspects of ethno-cultural adaptation process in foreign students studying at the Faculty of Pre-university training and N.P. Ogarev National Research Mordovian State University.
