Abstract
The conduct of a special military operation in the Russian Federation revealed serious key issues related to the history of the USSR. The current conditions of international conflicts are largely addressed to the historical past of the 20th century, which, for the sake of political background, is interpreted distortedly, often falsifying some events and facts. In this regard, the question of an objective and truthful presentation of the historical events of the past human society is most acute today. In many ways, this task falls not so much on the state and social institutions, but on school teachers of history and teachers of higher and secondary professional institutions, broadcasting to students the science of the past. It is gratifying that, being aware of the aforementioned problems, the leadership of the Russian Federation is aimed at increasing the hours of teaching history in educational institutions, which is becoming a clear necessity for the patriotic education of young people. It is no coincidence that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia approved Order No. 662 dated July 19, 2022, in accordance with which there will be an increase in the teaching load for teaching History in the universities of the Russian Federation.
The purpose of the article is to consider a rather debatable issue of modern higher historical education in Russia.
Materials and methods. The article is written on the basis of reliable information: diverse sources and research literature. It is compiled on the basis of general scientific and special research methods. The theoretical basis of the article is based on the principles of historicism, scientific objectivity, a systematic approach, which involves the study of processes and phenomena in development and interaction.
Research results. The paper produced an ex-course to the Soviet past, which allows to understand the algorithm of actions in reforming the national higher education. Unfortunately, history, like no other science (and academic discipline), despite the fact that it should be an objective field of knowledge, is inevitably subject to one or another political conjuncture. According to the development of History in the country, one can study how the ideology of the state and society changed, it also becomes important what the focus was on, and how the most important tasks for the authorities were solved. The NWO, which began on February 24, 2022, clearly demonstrated the need for a more serious appeal to historical knowledge, its objective interpretation without distorting facts and events. Conclusions. Historical education, which has as its goal the dissemination of not only knowledge of events and facts, but also in many respects the implementation of the educational function, in the conditions of modern realities, is coming to the forefront. The state policy of the country, which has taken a course towards expanding and popularizing historical knowledge among young people, should bring qualitative results, increase the feeling of patriotism among future generations of Russian citizens.
