Abstract

The current geopolitical situation actualizes the topic of military-patriotic education of young people, the study of the historical experience of the Komsomol in this direction on the example of the Ulyanovsk region.

The purpose of the study is to identify the main directions of the Komsomol’s work with the younger generation, to analyze the difficulties encountered on the ground in implementing the decisions of higher authorities in life.

Methods and materials. The source base of the study was materials from the State Archive of the Modern History of the Ulyanovsk region on the activities of the Komsomol during the specified period in the region. The study is based on a comparative and systematic analysis of concrete historical processes, which made it possible to identify the similarities and differences of the studied phenomena at the federal and regional levels.

The scientific novelty of the research lies in the disclosure of forms and methods of work with young people, which were reduced to the organization of military circles at schools, shooting training, conducting All-Union sports competitions in military sports.

The results of the study. One of the activities of the Komsomol was the introduction of a system of passing TRP standards, within which schoolchildren sought to get a TRP badge, the competitive nature was manifested and the level of physical fitness of students was increased, they developed physically, joined physical education and sports.

The second major activity of the Komsomol in the field of military-patriotic education was assistance in the work of Osoaviakhim. Circles for the study of motor engineering, gliding, flying machines, and the promotion of knowledge of aviation and chemistry in economic construction were organized for young people. The publication shows how the shooting competitions were held in the Karsunsky district, the reasons for the low number of Komsomol participants are analyzed.

Conclusions. The activities of the Komsomol in the field of military-patriotic education combined the involvement of the broad masses in defense training with the development of practical military skills and the militarization of public consciousness. In the Ulyanovsk region, the implementation of the basic provisions of military-patriotic education in practice faced a number of difficulties, which were solved thanks to the coordinated work of the leaders and grassroots members of the Komsomol organization.
