Abstract
The article examines the state of legal education in the Chuvash Republic in the setting of digital transformation and changing labor market requirements. The problems of the quality of training legal specialists are updated and the ways to optimize it are proposed. The author covers the trends of reduction in the number of law faculties in non-core educational institutions and advances arguments for the need to review the balance between commercial and budgetary student enrollment.
The purpose of the study is to study the improvement in the quality of legal personnel training in Chuvashia universities in the setting of digitalization and modern challenges (1991–2023), to carry out a critical analysis of the current state of legal education in Chuvashia, to assess the prospects and problems arising in the context of digitalization and globalization, and to develop recommendations for optimizing the process of training lawyers to ensure a high level of legal culture and compliance to legal standards.
Materials and methods. The methodological basis of the study was the analysis of modern practice in the field of legal education and the assessment of existing programs effectiveness. Special attention is paid to the issues of practical training of students and the opportunities of the digital educational environment in solving the tasks.
The scientific novelty of the work lies in an integrated approach to the analysis of digitalization in the educational process and identifying the factors contributing to improving the quality of legal training in universities of Chuvashia. Recommendations are proposed to improve the quality of legal education, including adjustment of state funding and simplification of formal procedures in higher educational institutions.
Research results. In academic discourse, the process of digitalization in education is traditionally associated with using online learning platforms, introducing distance learning technologies and integrating complex automated information systems. The scientific literature focuses on the analysis of the following aspects of digitalization: transformation of the educational process as a whole, improvement of educational techniques, personalization of the educational process, increased openness and accessibility of educational resources, changes in students’ independent work and improvement of the quality of education. At this, it is emphasized that the use of information technologies undoubtedly contributes to expanding access to education, but availability of information and educational infrastructure in higher education institutions and the use of electronic resources are not inherently equivalent to complete digitalization of the educational process.
The practical significance of the study is manifested in the opportunity of using the results obtained to improve the educational policy and to form a strategy for the development of legal education in the Chuvash Republic. The identified research prospects are aimed at in-depth study of the impact of digital technologies on legal practice and education, contributing to training higher legal personnel in the region.
Conclusions. The analysis of modern development of legal education in Chuvashia revealed an active renewal of higher education, a timely and high-quality response to the challenges of digitalization, and noticeable changes have also occurred in the technology and methodology of training legal personnel.
